Morganit ist ein in den letzten Jahren zunehmend für hochwertigen Schmuck verwendeter Beryll, der in bester Edelstein-Qualität (rosa, ohne Braun- bzw. Orange-Komponente) nur relativ selten angeboten wird. Wie alle Edelberylle (Aquamarin, Goldberyll, Goshenit) sollte auch der Morganit nur in hoher Reinheitsqualität gekauft werden, da deutliche Einschlüsse den Wert dieses attraktiven Edelsteines empfindlich mindern. Die farbgebende Substanz sind kleinste Spuren von Mangan. Der Morganit ist nach dem US-Bankier und Edelsteinsammler J.P.Morgan benannt. |
